Bureau of Prisons Re-Entry Program

Prairie Center Health Systems, Inc. (Prairie Center) has operated for several years a distinct and separate residential program for male and female inmates nearing the completion of their federal sentence. Each inmate is closely monitored by specially trained agency counselors and federal parole officers. This “half-way” house program involves substance abuse counseling, random drug testing, assistance with employment, housing, and related information and referral services. The goal is to re-integrate the individual into the community and back into a normal life. Prairie Center professionals help perform worksite visits and monitor the comings and goings of the inmates. Any violations are the subject of swift and severe consequences, including returning to prison. The re-entry program is directed by the federal prison system in unique partnership with select substance abuse agencies. Because of this partnership, many offenders have managed to re-establish themselves into a productive life outside of prison.
