Day Treatment

In 2005 Prairie Center implemented a new treatment option for adults addicted to high intensity drugs like methamphetamine and crack cocaine. This intensive outpatient program is a step-down from in-patient and step-up from traditional intensive outpatient treatment. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the accepted treatment model for this program. Services are available at our Urbana and Danville facilities.

Day Treatment clients receive transportation outreach, case management, family education, nutrition, wellness, and related support services. Random drug testing and 1 nutritious meal daily are also a part of this treatment intervention. Counselors and case managers receive special training to work with Day Treatment clients.

Average duration of treatment is 16 weeks of 4 days/week, 7 hours of treatment and education daily, which is much longer than the traditional out-patient option.  Persons who remain in the treatment program to graduation maintain high levels of sobriety post graduation.

This program is partially supported by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

Prairie Center is affiliated with the University of Illinois School of Social Work regarding research and educational opportunities related to treatment for methamphetamine addiction.
